At the Liebherr plant in Bischofshofen, two Industry Train load trains from Neumaier are the link between the warehouse and production. The load train concept for internal material supply was already firmly planned during the planning of the new automated container and Euro pallet warehouse due to the geographical layout of the warehouse. This is because there is a distance of 300 to 400 metres between the new logistics centre and production. The aim was to use load trains to transport as much production material as possible from the warehouse to the assembly area. The aim was to reduce factory traffic and to guarantee the reliability of supply to the assembly line even in the event of external weather conditions such as rain and snow.
With the Neumaier load train, Liebherr has found the right solution for its requirements from among several suppliers: "The Neumaier load train was best able to meet our requirements," says Matthias Lorenz, Head of Intralogistics at Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen. The Neumaier technology impressed with its simple operation, robust design and the perfect outdoor capability of the trolleys, including the weather protection system for the transported goods.
The flexible loading concept was also impressive. This is because each trolley has 4 storage spaces. Euro pallets as well as trolleys and trolleys on wheels can be transported. Thanks to the integrated Quick-Save device in the floor, the castors are automatically locked when the trolley is lifted and thus secured for transport. This ensures fast loading and unloading processes.
The cooperation between Neumaier and Jungheinrich was also a decisive factor for Liebherr. Matthias Lorenz: "The combination option with the Jungheinrich load tractor was important to us because Jungheinrich has been a good partner of ours for many years and we have a very good level of service in the area."
At the moment, the transports are carried out with 2 load trains with 2 trailers each in 1-shift operation. Should the transport volume increase, either another load train or additional trailers can be purchased. This provides security for Liebherr, as the load train concept is scalable upwards, thus securing optimisation and growth potential at the Bischofshofen site.
Liebherr founded the Group's first Austrian plant in Bischofshofen in 1960. Since then, the company has grown steadily over the decades through sustainable innovations, creative solutions and high quality standards. Today, Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen GmbH is the Liebherr Group's competence centre for wheel loaders and produces around 162 wheel loaders per week with around 1,300 employees.
